The NTE135A is a diode zener with a voltage rating of 5.1V and a power rating of 1W. It comes in a DO35 package, which is a small glass-encapsulated package commonly used for diodes and other small components. The zener diode is a specialized type of diode that allows current to flow in the forward direction like a normal diode, but also allows it to flow in the reverse direction when the voltage reaches a certain threshold known as the zener voltage. Zener diodes are commonly used in voltage regulation circuits to maintain a constant output voltage despite variations in input voltage or load. The 5.1V rating of the NTE135A indicates that it will begin conducting in the reverse direction when the voltage across it reaches 5.1V, effectively clamping the voltage at that level.
