The PCF8563TS is a real-time clock/calendar chip developed by NXP Semiconductors. It features an integrated oscillator circuit, voltage comparator, and an I2C interface for communication with the microcontroller. The chip operates on a supply voltage range of 1.0V to 5.5V and consumes low power, making it suitable for battery-powered applications.The PCF8563TS supports a variety of clock and calendar functions, including seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year. It can also generate alarms and manage countdown events. The chip includes a programmable clock output, which allows for synchronization with external devices.Additionally, the PCF8563TS offers temperature-compensated timekeeping to ensure accurate timekeeping over a wide temperature range. The chip has a built-in RAM for storing configuration data and has a watchdog timer to monitor the integrity of the clock.
