The MPU-6500 is a 6-axis combination of a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer in a single package, designed for use in smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, and other consumer electronics. It offers high-performance motion sensing with advanced features and low power consumption. The gyroscope provides accurate angular velocity measurements for tracking motion while the accelerometer measures acceleration in three directions.The MPU-6500 features a programmable digital motion processor (DMP) that offloads complex motion processing tasks from the main microcontroller, reducing the overall system power consumption. This allows for real-time motion tracking, gesture recognition, and other sensor fusion algorithms to be implemented efficiently.The sensor offers configurable filters, temperature stability, and low noise performance, making it suitable for a wide range of applications requiring precise motion detection. It also includes built-in self-test functionality for easy calibration and diagnostics.Communication with the MPU-6500 is achieved through an I2C or SPI interface, allowing for easy integration into existing systems.
