The MM74HC595 is a high-speed shift register that is designed using advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology. With its high noise immunity and low power consumption, this device is ideal for driving 15 LS-TTL loads. It features an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register connected to an 8-bit D-type storage register, which in turn has 8 3-STATE outputs. Separate clocks are provided for both the shift register and the storage register, allowing for precise control and timing. The shift register has a direct-overriding clear, serial input, and serial output pins for cascading, while both registers use positive-edge triggered clocks
